Diaper Stash 1

I finally got around to taking a photo of all the diapers currently in rotation on Elias.

The top row is:
- Blue, green and yellow BumGenius 2.0 One Size Pockets
- Medium train and zoo print FuzziBunz
- Berry Pocket Change

The second row is:
- Neon green, menthol blue and periwinkle BumWear One-Size pocket
- Candy stripe Good Mama fitted
- Medium Dream-Eze fitteds

Third row is:
- WAHM puppy print cover
- Medium Bummis Super Brite covers on each side.

At the top of the photo are extra inserts and doublers and the bottom of the photo are premium sized prefolds.

I really like the BumGenius and FuzziBunz pockets. The BumWear are oddly shaped and I’m not sure about them. The pocket change seems to work well, but it’s only been on him two or three times at this point. I’m really liking my fitteds and prefolds using the cover. The dream-eze is only sized up to 20 pounds, but they work very well so I hope he can stay in them a bit longer. He seems to have a lot of room to grow in them.

Do you prefer the snaps or the velcro fasteners? I’m really strongly considering cloth diapers, and I’m curious about how people like the snaps in real action. I have one friend who swears by Fuzzi Bunz, but I’ve also read a lot about the Bum Genius.

At first I preferred velcro because it was easier to deal with than the snaps. After I got used to the snaps though, I really prefer them which is why I recently bought some more pockets (the pocket change and bumwear) with snaps. After a few times in the wash, the velcro starts to break down. There are laundry tabs to keep the velcro in place during the wash, but they fail and then you’re pulling three or four joined-by-velcro diapers out of the washer or dryer and it’s just a pain.

You should join the cloth diapering community on LJ if you want a lot more info on cloth diapers.

Cloth diapering is addictive and fun (and can be expensive).

Good to know about the community and the Velcro! I’ve seen a pattern for the Velcro-type ones, so I might see if my mother will try making a few. That’d be a big money saver, I bet. I’ll go look for that community now!

Erin, there is a diy diaper community as well on LJ. They’re a good resource for what types of fabrics to use, etc.
