Everything except my pocket diapers came today! It’s like Christmas!
The cosleeper looks pretty cool. I don’t know how long it will be good for, but I can always try to sell it once he outgrows it:

Here are some other pics of Elias taken today. I’m going to do my best to get a shot of him every day (both so I can do the 365 children version and so I have a record of his growth). I’ve been pretty bad about taking pics on anything other than my camera phone thus far.

Here are some pics of me and Elias with the sling. It took me about 15 minutes to figure it out. I thought I was going crazy for a little while. I hope I have him in it correctly!

Mark picked up this swing today from Babies R Us along with a changing table my mom bought for us.
So far Elias really seems to be calmed by the swing. When he’s awake, he cries almost constantly, which is heartbreaking. I think he might have colic just because of how much he cries during the day. I’m hoping that a combination of the swing and the sling (which should be arriving sometime this week) will really help things out.
I also bought this cosleeper which should be arriving sometime this week. We’re cosleeping currently because he refuses to sleep if he’s not next to me. Our bed is rather soft and I don’t feel comfortable having him between us because of Mark’s sleep apnea and size, so I hope this will address both of those issues and allow Elias to cosleep comfortably between us for a couple months.
When I was looking in our ottoman in the living room, I found three small pocket diapers I bought that I forgot about! Score! I also bought four Happy Heineys pocket diapers on Friday, so that’ll bring us up to 11 total pocket dipes!
I have two newborn covers that my chunker has just about outgrown, plus the Blueberry diaper that he only got one or two uses out of before outgrowing. I will probably try selling those in the cloth diapering community soon (I’ll give away the Blueberry since I got it for free). I’m really bad about shipping things out, so I hope that goes well for me.
Also, even though the website says they fit 5-15 lbs, my Kissaluv size 0s are getting very snug (the contours fit great and I actually like them more.)
I’m finding that I like pocket diapers most of all. I ordered 15 one-size second inserts from cotton babies a while back and they work very well at absorbing moisture. I have three Fuzzi Bunz and one WAHM pocket diaper and I love using them for overnight. I need to start researching pocket diapers because I’d love to get some more to use during the day.
The prefolds I have are a bit smallish too. I’m using the preemie prefolds as an extra layer of absorption and that’s going well. The infant prefolds just barely fit. I have some regular sized prefolds, but they’re HUGE. I’m wondering if I wasn’t mistakenly sent toddler sized instead. At least prefolds are pretty cheap if I want to buy some more.
The downside to cloth diapers is the constant laundry and constant changing. I used disposable for a day and you definitely need to change them less (half the time, I couldn’t even tell if they were wet even though I knew he MUST have peed). I think I’d prefer him not to sit in pee though (especially pee mixed with chemicals) so I usually don’t mind more frequent changing. I just need to read up on the best diapers for overnight use so I don’t have to change him every couple hours overnight.
I finally ordered my sling. I got this Peanut Shell in the Cafe print. I was going to order it from Target to get 10% off as it was on my registry, however they said it wasn’t going to be in for 2-6 weeks. Nordstrom’s site says 5-8 business days, so hopefully I’ll get it before Elias outgrows it.
I’ve tried reading the instructions on the baby carrier (Snugli or something like that) my mom got me, but it’s just too complicated. There are like 14 different places for adjustment. I’ll have to get Mark to read the instructions to see if he can figure it out so I have something to use before my Peanut Shell gets here.
