My Moby Wrap came in the mail today! The very long piece of fabric is definitely a bit difficult to handle, but I had it on and Elias wrapped in it within minutes. We started with the newborn hold, which I quickly learned I didn’t really like, so I was able to readjust him quite easily to the hug hold. I haven’t taken him out of it yet, but I think it will be easier than the Peanut Shell. I’m pretty sure I’ll get used to this wrap quickly. I can’t wait until I’m good enough at putting him in it that I can wear the wrap out and about and place him in it once we reach our destination.
ETA: I just took Elias out of the wrap to change his diaper and it was SO much easier getting him out than the Peanut Shell! With the Peanut Shell, I always felt like I was in danger of dropping him. Without taking the wrap off to readjust or anything, I was easily able to get him right back in, SO easily! This was a great decision.
Anyone see last night’s The Amazing Race? The African woman at the pit stop with Phil was wearing her baby! Yay baby wearers!
Elias and I went to visit Mark at work today. It was our first non-medical related outing. He did very well for the hour we were there, taking in everyone’s voices and faces. I’ll probably visit my mom at work soon.
My Moby wrap supposedly shipped so hopefully I’ll have it early next week. I’m so excited about it! I hope it works better for us than the Peanut Shell.
Overall we’re doing okay. Elias goes through a crying period just about every night between 8pm and midnight where he’s tired (but fights sleep), hungry and generally inconsolable, but otherwise as long as I’m holding him he’s pretty good.
I got the medium Peanut Shell and it does fit better, but I just don’t like the way it holds him, so I’m sending them both back. I’ve decided to go ahead and order a Moby wrap since they seem pretty easy, secure and cheap. Until that gets here, I finally figured out the Snugli, but mostly I’m just carrying him everywhere. Great exercise.
I’m also going to order a few more Bumgenius 2.0 cloth diapers since they’re on clearance and I’m really liking the ones we got last week.
Elias is smiling a lot more and may have even giggled a couple times. He smiles more every day. The next few weeks should start getting really fun.
The cloth diapers I ordered came in the mail today (actually yesterday, but I didn’t get the mail yesterday):

The instructions said not to use Free and Clear detergent or else they might leak and I have Publix brand Free and Clear… Some of my pocket dipes have leaked before, but it’s not consistent. I’ll go ahead and try using it and if it leaks, I guess I’ll try switching to Tide, which is what they recommend.
Elias has been extremely fussy today. He took a HUGE and gross poop earlier, so I hope that helps him out a bit. He’s finally taking a nap. He’s been awake since 10:30am, which is very unusual for him! I’m not going to let him sleep past 7pm. Hopefully he’ll sleep well tonight. He didn’t go last night for more than 2 hours at a stretch, which is also unusual for him. He’s still getting used to his co-sleeper and flails his arms about frequently, not seeming to get any good rest. (Yes, we’ve tried swaddling him and no matter how tight, he has his arms out in minutes) You’d think he’d pass out sometime soon.
I haven’t been able to wear my sling at all today. It’s like it suddenly went from ‘a little too big’ to DROWNING huge. Seems odd, but I really hope the medium fits better.
Here’s today’s 365 Kids photo:

Whenever I can hold him with one arm without fear that he’ll squirm right out of it, I might try taking a picture of both of us together. Until then, you’ll probably see a lot of my ottoman.
I’m pretty sure my Peanut Shell is a size too large - he just seems to drown in the pocket and ride low. I’ve gone ahead and ordered a medium from Nordstrom to see how well it fits and will return the one that doesn’t fit the best. I hope I get the new sling as quickly as I got this one!
